Is Sheer Khurma good for health?
The word sheer khurma comes from Persian origin which means milk and dates. The combination of milk and dates is a healthy combination naturally since many people specifically in the gulf had this as their staple food.
When prepared with toned or skimmed milk, sheer khurma can definitely be a healthy dessert as its primary constituents are milk, condensed milk, dry fruits, dates, and vermicelli. Vermicelli is made of wheat flour and has low sodium, and fat content. It’s a healthy choice when taken in small amounts.

Ans: Khoya or milk powder can be added to the sheer khurma to give it a rich texture. Adding khoya/barfi will thicken the Sheer Khurma.

How To Make Sheer Khurma Recipe For Eid
Ingredients
- 200 g Vermicelli or Seviyan( thin)
- 1 liter Milk
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Ghee
- 1/4 cup Dry Fruits
- 1/4 cup Chopped Dates
- 1/4 cup Raisins
- 1/4 cup Cashews
- 1/4 cup Almonds
- 1/2 tbsp Cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup Saffron strands, soaked
- 1/4 Rosewater
Instructions
- In a pan, heat ghee and roast vermicelli until golden brown. Setaside.
- Soak saffron strands in warm milk and let them infuse their richflavor.
- In a separate pot, bring the remaining milk to a gentle boil.Add sugar, cardamom powder, and the saffron-infused milk. Stir well.
- Incorporate the roasted vermicelli into the milk mixture. Allowit to cook until the vermicelli is soft and the mixture thickens.
- Add chopped dates, raisins, cashews, and almonds. Continue simmering until thedry fruits are tender
- Sprinkle rosewater for a fragrant touch. Stir gently, ensuringall the flavors meld beautifully.
- Sheer Khurma is best enjoyed warm. Garnish with additional dry fruits.
